Ayrton Senna has an endless fascination with people worldwide and throughout time. His legendary status in F1 and the wider sporting and celebrity world has always attracted Omar. His untimely tragic death at the peak of his career shocked the world. The depiction of Senna's focus, immortality status and his legendary aura was a key focus of this piece. The emotion and focus in his eyes on the race is a key focal point of this painting. Contrasting texture was applied through using thick oil paint applied with a palette knife for the helmet, signifying the risky, mechanical and unforgiving nature of elements of F1, with using delicate brush work for the facial features, showing the fragility of life.
